On-site Welcome & Onboarding meeting
Once the researcher has arrived in Barcelona, the Landing Liaison Officer will arrange an on-site meeting to welcome the researcher and provide guidance on several key legal and administrative procedures to help them integrate into life in Barcelona, both legally and socially.
During the meeting, the following topics will be discussed:
- Hiring Process: Assistance with obtaining a Social Security number, setting up a Spanish bank account, and completing the employment contract.
- UPC Access Card: Process to obtain an access card to the UPC working facilities.
- Foreigner Identification Card (TIE): Guidance on applying for the TIE at the Provincial Immigration and Borders Brigade.
- Registration at the Municipal Census ("padró"): Information on how to register at the local municipality to ensure legal residency.
- Digital Certificate: Assistance with obtaining the digital certificate for electronic transactions and identification.
- Family Members: Help in registering family members as beneficiaries of the Researcher’s Social Security number for health care coverage.
- UPC Services: Introduction to the Inclusion Office and Language and Terminology Services of the UPC, particularly regarding language requirements for permanent positions.
- Schooling for Children: Guidance on enrolling children in schools and educational institutions.
- Driving License Exchange: Information on how to exchange a foreign driving license for a Spanish one.
- Other Relevant Topics: Addressing any additional aspects essential for the legal and smooth integration of the researcher and their family (if applicable) into the local community and systems.
This personalized support is designed to ensure that the researcher can focus on their work while adjusting to their new life in Barcelona.
