Register at the consulate of your country in Spain

Soon after your arrival, please contact the Consulate or Embassy of your home country. We strongly recomend you to register with them as a citizen that is living abroad.

You could need this registration, for example, to vote remotely and also for emergency or security reasons.

Some Consulates will ask for the “padrón” so you can justify you live here. Some other do not ask for this. So, please contact your consulate to get the proper information on the documents you need to register with them.
