UPC joins Catalunya Talent Bridge to attract top U.S. research talent and strengthen its leadership in science and innovation
The Talent Acquisition Unit of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) will take part in the Catalunya Talent Bridge program as a key partner in recruiting leading research talent from the United States. This initiative aligns with UPC’s commitment to expanding its capacity to attract international researchers—especially those based in the U.S.—and to fostering academic excellence.
Launched by the Generalitat de Catalunya, this strategic initiative aims to attract and retain top-tier research talent currently based in the United States—especially those impacted by the ongoing changes in the American R&D landscape. The Catalunya Talent Bridge is not just a response to international political dynamics; it is a visionary program that positions Catalonia, and institutions like the UPC, as a safe, attractive and competitive environment for research.
With over 28 million euros earmarked for implementation over the next four years, the program offers tailored mechanisms for different stages of a research career—ranging from emerging postdoctoral talent to senior profiles with established international prestige. It leverages established instruments like the Beatriu de Pinós, Pla Serra Húnter, ICREA and CERCA programs, all enhanced through the Talent Bridge’s additional support structures, including welcome packages and mobility funds.
By adopting this program, UPC reinforces its role as a magnet for international research talent, especially in science, engineering, and technology fields. We join a collaborative effort with other Catalan universities and research centers to ensure that brilliant minds from around the world find in our institutions a vibrant academic and scientific home. At UPC, we are ready to welcome these researchers—offering the support, infrastructure, and environment they need to continue their careers and contribute to a globally connected research ecosystem.
