Christmas Gathering to Connect Research Talent
Dec 11, 2025
A casual gathering at the Facultat de Nàutica brought together UPC researchers for a morning of community and discovery.
On 10 December, the Talent Hub team —comprising the International Relations Office, the Talent Recruitment Unit, and the Research Career Support and Advisory Unit— organized a warm and informal Christmas gathering for UPC researchers at the historic Nautic Faculty. The gathering created an informal and festive space for researchers and staff to connect and celebrate the season. The meeting took place at the Facultat de Nàutica de Barcelona, an historic UPC building rich in heritage and architectural detail.
The event opened with a casual welcome by Pedro Díez, Vice-Rector for Research, and Andreas Sumper, Vice-Rector for International Policy, who set a friendly and relaxed tone for the morning. Afterwards, attendees took the floor for a round of informal self-introductions, getting to know one another and sharing a bit about their journey at UPC in a light and conversational way.
The whole group then enjoyed a guided visit to the UPC Planetarium, a unique historical piece of engineering. Entirely electromechanical and fully analog, the Planetarium operates without computers or digital software, showcasing the precision and craftsmanship of its era. The visit offered a unique glimpse into its operation and the exceptional experience allowed participants to see the Planetarium in action.
The visit was followed by a great pica-pica, offering additional moments for conversation and networking. Finally, the celebration concluded with cava and holiday greetings, raising a toast to the year’s achievements and to the exciting opportunities ahead.
