Objective

The main objective of this call is to facilitate the recruitment of established research talent with recognized international prestige who have recently spent a significant period of their professional activity abroad.

Established research talent with recognized international prestige refers to individuals who meet criteria such as being among the top 10% of researchers in their field globally, serving as the principal investigator of an active ERC project, holding the highest academic/research career level in their country of origin, or having led a significant number of competitive national or international research projects as PI, having made highly relevant and impactful contributions throughout their careers in their field of specialization.

To encourage participation from researchers affiliated with institutions based in the United States of America, one of the leading global research powers, the maximum eligible funding amount is increased for this group.

General Requirements for the PI

To be admitted to the selection process, applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Degree: PhD awarded before January 1, 2018.

  • Must not belong to any permanent academic staff body at public universities, be a career civil servant of public research organizations, or be employed by a Spanish public university as a tenured or permanent professor.
  • Must not have passed a selection process for any of the positions mentioned above.
  • It is not necessary to have an active employment relationship during the grant awarding procedure, but it is required during project execution. Part-time dedication is allowed during the first year.
